Today I just wanted to share a few thoughts that were on my mind. How would you define a Christian or Christianity? Would you define it by the traditional practices of going to church, tithing, or having a relationship with God the Father. Today I watched a film on Amazon.com about the martyr Polycarp. This movie really caused me to think about that question. Polycarp’s testimony of faith is a great example of a true Christian, in my opinion. His willingness to lay down his life for Christ is an awesome testimony of faith and courage. I feel that this faith it what Christianity is about, unwavering trust and obedience to God. Not only did he die for Christ but he thanked God for giving him the opportunity.
This has motivated me to increase my faith and continue to share the Gospel with others. It also teaches me to speak boldly and not be ashamed. I have never been one to hide my faith in Christ but I am encouraged in my well doing. I want to leave you with a few verses that come to mind.
John 15:13 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Matthew 28:19 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
